What is a raw food lifestyle?
A Raw food lifestyle means consuming only raw unprocessed non-cooked food. (So kiss your stove and microwave oven goodbye.) Basically the idea is that by leaving your food in its natural state as much as possible the food's structure gets less messed up than it would when processing it (by cooking etc.). This, many belief, will greatly reduce the risks of welfare diseases and increase general health in a person.
The validity of this assumption has yet to be proven and of course there is much controversy on the matter. That is why I will try to limit myself to my own personal raw experiences and practises.

Becoming raw
Becoming a raw feeder (raw-foodist?: the exact terminology hasn't quite been decided on by the raw community) is in my case an ongoing gradual process. I am not, and probably will never become, 100% raw. This is because to me the raw food lifestyle is not a religion or moral conviction (like my vegetarianism) but more of a means to an end: being and staying as healthy as possible. I'm also a bit of a minimalistic nutter: After getting rid of my stove in 2003, my bed was soon to follow. I now sleeps on a blanket on the carpet in my compact single room house. Furthermore I've been trying out barefoot running since late 2004. Just trying to keep an open-mind and a critical view towards the status quo (or a case of a slight brain-disorder some might say).
In any case, sofar the results of this raw food experiment of mine have been encouraging. Besides the fact that I am starting to feel better and better, raw food even seems to be tastier than the cooked stuff and, more practical, it takes alot less time to prepare.

Raw breakfast
Still working on the rest of this page. For now, here's a description of my usual breakfast.
Ingredients: 2-3 raw eggs; 1-2 teaspoons flaxseed oil; 150-200gr bio-organic rolled oats, raisins & nuts mix.
Preparation: simply mix them up and give a thorough stir.
Protein from the eggs, Omega-3 from the flaxseed oil, slow carbs + fiber from the oats, sugary raisins... Yummmmm!
Rest of the day: loads of water, some pieces of fruit.
Evening: vegetables / tomatoes / carrot, some walnuts
